In a typical English small town a man and wife are riding a bike. It is an old fashioned bicycle built for two. They have stopped to talk. There are trees in the background, a housing facility, a medium house in the background. Looks like a friendly neighborhood.
The day is cold and brisk and the woman is wearing a beautiful sweater. It is dull, almost like rain. They left when it was a little bit cool, and the weather has turned bad. Mabel (who is able) and Ralph, a typical English name, are trying to decide on the destination.
Ralph says, “How tired I am.” They decide to go to the park. On their ride they can smell lilacs and flowers in gardens, and blossoms on orange trees they pass. As they ride they sing:
Daisy, Daisy give me your answer true
I’m half crazy all for the love of you.
It won’t be a stylish marriage,
I can’t afford a carriage,
but you’ll look sweet,
upon the seat,
of a bicycle built for two.
Mable sings, “I’ll be damned
If I’ll be crammed,
on a bicycle built for two!”
At the park they sit on a bench. Ralph and Mabel have three children, two boys and one girl. They are satisfied with the children. They are both still working. They are very much in love and sit close together on the bench. What else is the use of being there? They are ready to retire. They want to take it easy.
They will go on a long vacation. Go a little here, and a little there. They will travel locally. If they can go on a bicycle built for two they would like travel in a travel trailer. Most of all they want to have good health, a healthy family, and a happy life.
